A Change of Seasons

Monoshone Creek, Rittenhouse Town, Philadelphia

For a lot of us, this coming weekend is the unofficial end to summer. A change of seasons is upon us, so I wanted to share with you an image that I had taken during the spring of this year. It was one of my first attempts at capturing a waterfall, so I decided to put a circular polarizer to good use. I was amazed by the color that appeared in the rocky areas. By desaturating the highlights within Photomatix, I was able capture the change of seasons.

I think we can all agree that this change may bring some great photo opportunities. Although I love the summer, I am looking forward to the vibrancy of the fall.

What I love most about this image is the different approach that I’ve chosen. To me, it represents a very unique mood that we all strive for.  Don’t forget to change things up when you feel yourself getting bored with your work.  Sometimes I’ll even go back to an image from the past and re-tweak it.  With that said, I am very happy with the slight adjustments I made to this image in Aperture 3 before posting.

I wish everyone a safe and happy labor day weekend.

Gail in Montana - You are right, Scott. This is the most favorite of your photos!! I didn’t post about this on facebook, but we are going on a cruise on the Columbia River!! Leaving this Saturday morning for Clarkston, WA, where we board the paddlewheel ship. I’ll have my laptop along, as they have wireless, so you won’t miss me, lol. And I won’t miss your posts. Not sure how much time I’ll have to spend on the computer, but will visit facebook once or twice a day. I don’t think we will have a tv, not sure. I am so looking forward to spending my 65 birthday on the Columbia River!!! I am really getting old, lol. We sail(paddlewheel) all the way to the ocean, then turn around and come back to Portland, OR. We get off the ship there. Then they motor coach us back to the beginning, stopping at Maryhill, WA, where we will lunch at a vineyard museum and see the Stonehenge replica that was errected in honor of WWI vets from WA that were killed. Then on to Clarkston, spend the night, and drive home the next morning. That will be on September 12th. First thing we will do is go and pick up our poor puppies that will be missing us, and we them. So that’s where we will spend labor day weekend. And hopefully, I’ll see some similar scenes to this one. Take care and God bless. See you on facebook!!!!

Tricia McCallum - Hi Scott:

I feel I know you as I am close to your lovely mother and father. They are very proud of you as well they should be. I love your work, find you inventive and not afraid to experiment. The quintessential qualities of an artist. I look forward to more of your work.

Visit my website when you have time – you’ll see my passion for photography in evidence. I have photographed in black and white for years – used to do weddings and child photography to supplement my writing income. I love being behind a camera. I can tell you do as well.

Continued success, Scott. (Coincidentally, my brother’s name is Scott; his wife is Kim!

Warm regards, Tricia (McCallum)

Scott Frederick - Hi Tricia, I really appreciate your kind words. I visited your site and your writing is incredible. I would love to see more of your photography, but I was only able to see a few images on your site. Is there a link I am missing? It’s always so nice to receive a message like this about ones work. I invite you to join me on Facebook to keep up to date! Have a great weekend :)
