I always wished to be a good skateboarder as a kid, but I failed miserably. FDR Park is a famous skateboarding park made of concrete. It sits nicely on the south end of FDR park underneath the I95 overpass. I always heard stories that the crowd around here was rough and if you bite it at skateboarding, you’d better not skate here. I don’t know how true that is, but on a Tuesday afternoon with cloudy skies, it was all mine.
I was attracted to the smooth curves and colorful graffiti. The structured beams that are I95 above help add hard, straight lines to the smooth curved concrete below. I was lucky to have the reflection and shine from the water in the foreground. Even though I didn’t skate, I feel as if shooting some brackets here was good enough!

Jimmy Denham - I’m a big fan of graffiti and this has plenty of it! Good range of colors too! Another winner my friend!
Mike Criswell - Nice colors in the forground Scott
Heath O'Fee - What an awesome location! Very cool shot, my friend!
Jesse Pafundi - Wow this is awesome. Great scene Scott
Dave Wilson - Now that would be a fun place to shoot! The HDR is great but I bet you could have a great time on a busy day if you showed up with a couple of lightstands and strobes too.
Scott Frederick - Thanks Jimmy, Mike, Heath and Jesse. Much appreciated.
@Dave, thanks my friend that would be cool to capture the action like that! Not my area of expertise however. I would need your assistance.
John Tammaro - Love the shot Scott. Graffiti has a way of adding some pop to shots.
Scott Frederick - Indeed John, thanks for your comment.
Bob Lussier - L:ove this, Scott! Great spot!
