This iconic image of the indoor pool at the abandoned Grossinger’s Resort in Upstate NY has been photographed many times. I’m glad I got a chance to visit this resort, but since our visit was cut short I’m disappointed I didn’t grab more images while I was there. We were spotted inside this enclosed pool shortly after this image was taken by a retired NY State Police Officer who firmly asked us to leave! 4 hours later we arrived back home, safely! It is always unfortunate to travel far to a location only to turn around and come back home, but this is the price you pay when your into this type of photography!

Bob Lussier - This is a great shot, Scott! Too bad you got turned away. This place is on my list too. Its about 4 hours from my corner of New England.
Dave DiCello - This is just plain awesome Scott! Love the processing man, you rocked it
Adam Olson - Awesome shot Scott! Too bad you guys got caught.
A.Barlow - Very cool processing on this one.
Gail - great picture!!! love this one
John Sotiriou (@NABZphoto) - Awesome processing. Hope you get back there soon.
Jeff Hall - I’m shocked to hear that Grossinger’s is in this state. When I was a kid, this was the iconic Catskill’s landmark. I take it the officer was not in a negotiating mood, even given your innocent intentions? (Not that he had any right to appoint himself the local authority).
I like the shot, though I think there is too much foreground on the near left that doesn’t add anything to the image. I’m also not a big fan of the grunge effect with HDR. I like a much cleaner HDR look, but that’s just a personal feeling.
James - Love this image!
Mike Criswell - Great image Scott, love the colors
