Longport Point in New Jersey is a great location for landscape photography. Especially long exposure black and white images. The day I captured this shot, there was an amazing fog rolling over the area during the afternoon hours. This created a diffused horizon line, which I exaggerated here using a high key technique. I can’t stress the importance of patience when working on these types of images as the masking can be long and tedious. Not to mention a workout on your carpal tunnel!
I worked with a zoom setting of 600% and a brush size of 3 pixels for most of the pipe masking. Once this was done, I was able to separate the pipeline from the rest of the image and work on those areas separately.

Kris Koeller - Great result and well-worth the effort. Great to read about the process.
Kim Seng - Awesome comp!
Scott Frederick - Much appreciated Kim Seng, thank you!
